The entrance to New
Waterlands Park is located on Third Street in South
Orange.
From the Garden State Parkway (north or south)
Exit at #142 to Route 78 West (Coming from the South,
take 78 East for 1/2 mile and take U-turn to 78 West),
keep right on local lanes. Exit at #50B
(Springfield/Millburn), turn right at light off exit
ramp onto Vauxhall Road to the 3rd light (Valley St.).
Turn right onto Valley St. and continue for 6 lights
(about 2 miles) to intersection of Third Street. Turn
left onto Third Street. Go under the train trestle. The
entrance to New Waterlands will be on your left just
beyond Gaslight Commons.
From the west
via Route 78 and Route 24
Stay in local lanes and exit at #49B (Maplewood) onto
Springfield Avenue. Watch for sign on your right "Valley
St. next right" (3rd right and less than 1/4 mile from
exit). Make jug handle onto Valley St. and continue for
7 lights to intersection of Third Street and Valley St.
Turn left onto Third Street. Go under the train trestle.
The entrance to New Waterlands will be on your left just
beyond Gaslight Commons.
From the west
via Columbia Turnpike/South Orange Avenue
Columbia Turnpike becomes So. Orange Ave. Before
entering the business district of South Orange, there is
a light at the intersections of South Orange Avenue and
Ridgewood Road. Make a RIGHT onto South Ridgewood Rd.
Proceed and make first LEFT onto Third Street. The sign
and driveway for the park are just before the apartment
building on the RIGHT.
From the west via Routes 80 and 280
Exit at Northfield (Mt. Pleasant Ave.). Go up hill to
1st light. Turn left at light onto Gregory Ave. (which
becomes Wyoming Ave.) and continue to end at So. Orange
Ave. Turn left onto So. Orange Ave. Proceed as from
"Columbia Turnpike/South Orange Avenue" directions
above.
From the east
via Route 280
Exit at #10 (Montclair/South Orange). Go left at top of
ramp. Proceed to 3rd traffic light and turn left onto
Gregory Ave. (which becomes Wyoming Ave.). Continue to
end at So. Orange Ave. Turn left onto So. Orange Ave.
Proceed as from "Columbia Turnpike/South Orange Avenue"
